LG Piet's forest (pendant/brooch)

$240.00
Piet Mondrian, b. 1822, Amersfoort, the Netherlands, d. 1944, NYC, USA
Mondrian was one of the pioneers of non-representational art. His paintings of trees from 1908 - 1912 show the fascinating evolution from naturalism to Impressionism, Fauvism, and Cubism until the trees become reduced to lines. In 1920, Mondrian wrote, "Why should art continue to follow nature when every other field has left nature behind." By the 1920's he had developed a completely non-representational style known as Neo-Plasticism. The general principles can be seen in this beautiful piece-flat planes, vertical and horizontal black lines, and the primary colors of red, yellow, and blue.

NOTE: you can remove the pendant from the metallic tour and wear it as a brooch.
